When visiting Barcelona, one of the things you should do is to experience the sunset. We've compiled this guide to ensure you get the most out of this experience. We’ll be going over the top locations to see the sunrise and tell you more about some great activities you could do.
Best Locations to Visit
1. Barceloneta Beach
Barcelona's beaches are among the best spots for watching the sunrise. One stands out the most: Barceloneta Beach, specifically the part next to the W Hotel. From here, you can perfectly see the sun slowly rising from the Mediterranean Sea.
During the summer, it’s also perfect to combine this with swimming or other activities on the beach.
2. Montjuïc
Not too far from the city centre, you can find the small mountain of Montjuïc. This is another excellent place to watch the sunrise. Although the mountain is only 173 metres high, it offers great 360º views of the city and the Mediterranean Sea.
After watching the sunrise from the sea, you can also visit some of the parks or other attractions at Montjuïc. We recommend having breakfast at one of the many picnic spots.
3. Bunkers del Carmel
Last but not least on our list is Bunkers del Carmel. Located on a hill in the El Carmel neighbourhood, it offers a perfect view of the city. From here, you can see the Sagrada Familia, the Mediterranean Sea, and the sunrise all in one view.
Even though it’s a bit of a walk to the bunkers, there are some great sitting places here, so you can slowly watch the sunrise, and even have a picnic if you feel like it.
Time it Right
Of course, knowing the right time is the most important thing when you want to see the sunrise. That’s why we’ve created this handy tool that can tell you exactly when the sunrise will start in Barcelona.

Must do Activities
Experiencing the sunset in Barcelona is already something unique, but by combining it with a fun activity, you can really make it a memorable experience.
1. Paddle surfing
One of the most fun activities would be experiencing the sunrise while on a paddle surfboard in the sea. Sea You Surf School does exactly that every day around 6 AM at Barceloneta Beach.
With this experience, you will experience not only the sunrise but also the feeling of the calm sea in the morning.

If you don’t feel like getting on a surfboard in the early morning, you can also take a unique sunrise sailing tour. This tour takes you to the Mediterranean Sea to experience the sunrise. Usually, you can also have breakfast on the boat.
